Optional, 9th semester course in Programming Techniques and use of specialized software in Structural Engineerng
Duration: 3hours/week,in total 39 hours/semester divided into 2 teaching groups
Classes are delivered for two teaching groups (Monday 15:00-18:00) and Thursday (17:00-20:00). The hours missed due to public holidays, will be replenished as described in the Teaching Shedule.
The course is assessed electronically - optionally and anonymously - filling-in the online questionnaire. The processed results of the assessment are available here for the academic year 2010-2011 and here for the academic year 2011-2012.
Computer applications and new Information & Communication Technologies in the analysis, design and assessment of structures. State-of-the-art visual programming tools, in Windows® environment (Visual Basic 2008). Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) in databases, Autocad® and spreadsheets. Programming of advanced Finite Element problems and practice in the use of the FE code ANSYS®. Particular emphasis is given on engineering statics, structural dynamics, reinforced concrete and steel structures. Programming of structural engineering problems using Matlab.
