Exams

The exams take place in the Computer Lab of the Civil Engineering Department. Students are assessed on programming solutions to mathematical problems as well as in the use of special Finite Element Analysis software.

Exams Terms and Conditions

Access: Students must have enabled their personal network accounts in advance, otherwise a relevant application should be submitted to the Computer Lab System Administrator. Students gain access to the network by use of their personal password. Electronic exams are collected automatically from their personal account, upon completion of the exam.

Arriving and Exam Duration: The assessment is carried out seperately for each teaching group. The duration of the exam is 120’.

Class Notes: Students are free to use any kind of analog or digital media. The use of programming code developed during the lectures is permitted as well as the use of internet resources (video tutorials or any other resource, exclusing the communication with other individuals within or outside of the room where the assessment is carried out). The use of communication and instant messaging software is controlled electronically.

Grading: Answering 2 out of 3 questions, with each question having a value of 5/10 marks.

Exam Validity: The files created as part of the exam must be saved in your personal folder and then transfered over to the cluster's ftp server, with the assistance of the teaching staff. Failure to save the examination papers results into disqualification.

Storage Procedures: Exam questions relevant to ANSYS and Visual Basic should be saved regularly during the assessment on an external hard drive or inthe students personal folder within the server. Upon completion of the assessment, these files should be transfered to the desktop, in the folder automatically generated for this purpose, entitled after each participants' student ID. Frequent saving of data is highly recommended in order to avoid lose of data.
